Success for Orkney Butchers
The motion
That the Parliament commends Donaldsons of Orkney for its success at the Craft Butcher Awards 2024; understands that the Orkney-based butchers has been recognised for its magnificent home-cured bacon products, earning gold awards for their Dry Cured Back Bacon and Sweet-cured Smoke Back Bacon; further understands that Scottish Craft Butchers’ executive manager praised the innovations in flavour and concept underpinning Donaldsons’ bacon products; notes that this is not the first time that Donaldsons has received recognition for its products, with its traditional Orkney haggis winning a number of awards since its development in 1983; recognises Edrian Skea, production butcher at Donaldsons, who was responsible for developing the award-winning bacon; understands that Donaldsons has been offering local meat to Orkney since 1955, and continues this fine tradition by supplying to a number of local Orkney hotels, cafes and restaurants; congratulates Edrian and all the staff at Donaldsons, and wishes them all the best for the future.
