Myeloma Awareness Week

The motion

That the Parliament recognises 17 to 23 June as myeloma awareness week; understands that myeloma is an incurable blood cancer and that approximately 2,300 people in Scotland are living with the condition; welcomes the #InMyeOwnWords campaign by Myeloma UK, which uses people's own words to describe their experience of the most common signs and symptoms of myeloma, which include fatigue, back pain, recurring infections, and broken bones; further welcomes the symptom translator developed by Myeloma UK to help communication between a doctor and patient by using examples of myeloma symptoms described in patients’ own words, and calls on MSPs across the Parliament to support the campaign by raising awareness of the symptoms and encouraging people to download the symptom translator and get themselves checked.
