Kerry Glancy Volunteers to Help Stroke Survivors

The motion

That the Parliament thanks Kerry Glancy, from Inverclyde, for dedicating her life to helping stroke survivors with their recovery, after, it understands, being given no chance of a full recovery by medics at the age of 19 in 1989 after fracturing her skull in a fall and being left unable to talk; understands that Kerry was hospitalised for two months and learned to walk and talk again, and went on to swap her job teaching Spanish to work in social care and also volunteering; further understands that Kerry is a speech and language therapy volunteer in the Inverclyde Royal Hospital’s stroke ward; believes that volunteers like Kerry bring a whole range of experience and skills to the services that they support, which is what makes volunteering so important; thanks all those who give up their own time to give back to the community, and wishes Kerry all the best as she continues to support the NHS.
