Aberdeen Performing Arts Light the Blue Festival

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen Performing Arts on the success of the 2024 Light the Blue festival, which was attended by record numbers; notes that the multi-arts festival, which ran for 13 days in June 2024, featured theatre, music, dance, workshop and performances at venues across Aberdeen, including Union Terrace Gardens, His Majesty's Theatre, Skene Square Primary School, the Music Hall and the Lemon Tree; understands that the festival created opportunities for over 1,000 young people to get involved in the world of performing arts, with almost 5,000 people attending the various events; believes that Light the Blue plays a vital role in showcasing the wealth of talent in Aberdeen and the north east, and provides important networking opportunities for the creative talents involved to meet with local and national organisations, such as National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Youth Theatre, Youth Theatre Arts Scotland and Ten Feet Tall Theatre Company, and wishes everyone at Aberdeen Performing Arts all the best for the 2025 festival.
