Loch Venachar "Joanna" Wheelyboat Launch

The motion

That the Parliament praises the launch of wheelyboat, Joanna, at Loch Venachar Sailing Club on 8 June 2024 by the close family and friends of Joanna Lamb from Edinburgh, who the wheelyboat has been named after; understands that Joanna Lamb passed away aged 18 in 2019 from a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma; further understands that, before her death, Joanna had lost a leg because of her illness, however, this did not stop her throwing herself into outdoor activities, including sailing on Loch Venachar during respite visits to the nearby Ripple Retreat; commends the incredible efforts of the Lamb family by engaging in a major fundraising effort, which raised over £42,000 to make the Joanna wheelyboat a reality, with assistance from many partners, including the Wheelyboat Trust and It's Good 2 Give; notes that the Joanna will allow those with mobility issues, including those in wheelchairs, access to the water at Loch Venachar, and joins over 220 wheelyboats throughout the UK that aim to give those with mobility issues freedom and independence to enjoy inshore waterways across the UK, and further notes that the Joanna will be held at Loch Venachar Sailing Club and will be available for anyone visiting the club to make use of it.
