Congratulating Troon's Tom Campbell
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Tom Campbell, from Troon, on captaining the GB men’s over 70s basketball team to a gold win at the International Maxibasketball Federation (FIMBA) European Championships in Pesaro, Italy; notes that the over-70s men’s team was the only GB team to win gold, and that seven of the 12 points scored by Tom were in the fourth quarter of the final, as the team won 45-42 against Lithuania; recognises that Tom coached basketball at Marr College with the Troon Tornadoes for over 20 years, and was head coach of the Scotland under-18 and senior men’s teams; commends all the GB teams that took part and praises the work of FIMBA GB in promoting physical activity for people over the age of 35; congratulates Tom on being Team GB’s leading point scorer, hopes to see him continue his basketball career for many years to come, and wishes him every success for the future.
