The motion

That the Parliament recognises the recent success of the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) BA Event Management students, Nicola Clarke, Kenzie Mackay, Adele Mullan and Toni Woods, on raising over £10,500 for the men’s mental health charity, Release Ayrshire, by organising a boxing showcase, Fighting Stigma, as part of a class assignment; understands that the money raised is making a significant impact by enabling the charity to expand its awareness campaigns to reduce the stigma around men’s mental health; notes that their efforts were supported by Dr Jenny Flinn, who is a lecturer in Event Marketing at UWS, and that the students have planned to organise a follow-up event with the charity later in 2024; further understands that Nicola, Kenzie, Adele and Toni were awarded the prestigious Student Live Event of the Year award by the Association for Events Management Education, and wishes them every success with their course and future events.
