The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the funding from the Asda Foundation, through its Investing in Spaces and Places initiative, to community groups, including in the Mid Scotland and Fife region; notes that these grants range from £10,000 to £25,000 and are aimed at enabling groups across the nation to transform community spaces; acknowledges that applications, which can be made through the Asda Foundation's website, are scheduled to close on 28 July 2024, but this might be earlier depending on levels of demand; notes that the grants can be used towards renovations, repairs or transforming spaces and that previous awards have gone towards projects such as upgrading a community kitchen and café, roof repairs, refurbishing a community building to improve accessibility and establishing an outdoor nature and sensory trail; recognises that, in 2023, over £600,000 was awarded to 31 groups and that the scheme has supported 90 groups since its launch in 2022; welcomes this funding and is grateful for the benefits to communities that it brings; acknowledges that community spaces can be a lifeline for people; believes that this funding will help maintain, develop and repair such spaces to support them in delivering their crucial services, and extends its very best wishes to the groups that apply for funding from the Mid Scotland and Fife area and across the country.
