Peacock Visual Arts' 50th Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Peacock Visual Arts in Aberdeen on its 50th anniversary, which falls on 21 July 2024; notes that Peacock, which first opened its doors near the Castlegate in 1974 in order to advance printmaking in the north east, has gone on to spend five decades using images to tell stories, training thousands of artists in printmaking techniques and ensuring that individuals have the tools available to unleash their creative ambitions; understands that the milestone was recently marked by a civic reception, which was hosted by the city's Lord Provost at the Town House, as well as various events and exhibitions at a number of venues, including the New Aberdeen Bestiary exhibition at Aberdeen Art Gallery; looks forward to seeing the current team of artists at Peacock take their plans for the future forward, and thanks all the artists, past and present, who have helped make Peacock a fixture in the north east art scene.
