The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Port of Aberdeen on the arrival of the 290-metre-long cruise ship, Costa Favolosa, which, it understands, is the largest vessel to visit the port in the entirety of its 888-year history; notes that the vessel, which has 13 decks and weighs 113,307 gross tonnes, arrived in Aberdeen from Kirkwall, Orkney, for a day-long stopover for its 4,000 guests and crew, who received an authentic Scottish welcome courtesy of the Robert Gordon College Pipe Band, Alba Bagpipes and VisitAberdeenshire's "Welcome to Aberdeenshire" volunteers; considers that this visit sets a new benchmark for the Port's capability and capacity; believes that this is a welcome sign of the increased diversification in energy, trade and tourism being facilitated by the Port's expanded infrastructure, and wishes CEO Bob Sanguinetti and everyone else at Port of Aberdeen well in continuing to attract new vessels and tourists to the Granite City.
