Water Safety Open Day 2024 Held at Loch Lomond Shores
The motion
That the Parliament commends Water Safety Scotland (WSS) on hosting the Water SafetyOpen Day 2024 at Loch Lomond Shores for the first time, in support of WorldDrowning Prevention Day; notes that the event promoted the safe use ofScotland’s waters whilst also educating the public on the risks and dangersthat are posed by water; understands that the event raised awareness of therisk, emergency guidance, signage reviews, water safety, search and rescue missions,swimming lessons and what it sees as the importance of consistent educationfrom nursery to high school; further understands that the event included liveaction educational shows; appreciates the various organisations that supportedthe event by showcasing their individual specialities, including ScottishWater, Venture Trust, Neighbourhood Watch Scotland, Rural Watch Scotland,Police Scotland, Police Marine Response Unit, Scottish Ambulance Service,Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Royal Navy, Sea Cadets, Scottish Swimming,RNLI, RoSPA, The Darcey Sunshine Foundation, Trossachs Search and Rescue, JustDive, Wild Wimmin and many more; acknowledges the effort put in by the entireWSS team and partners to bring what it considers a crucial national event toLoch Lomond, and looks forward to the event in 2025.
