Aberdeen Family Collects 13 Tonnes of Litter

The motion

That the Parliament commends the efforts of the Aberdeen Donside resident, Mike Scotland, his partner, Nikki Dalton, and their young children, who have helped to collect 13 tonnes of litter through regular litter picks across Aberdeen, particularly around the River Don and Bucksburn areas; understands that Mike started the community clean-up group in Aberdeen in January 2020 and that it now has thousands of members online; further understands that the efforts of the family and members of the group have resulted in the return of wildlife such as otters to the River Don, which have not been spotted in the river in 40 years; recognises the positive impact that litter picking has on nature and on mental health; congratulates Mike and his family on their tremendous efforts, and wishes them all the very best going forward.
