The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges the formidable career of Sir Andy Murray, following his retirement from professional tennis at the 2024 Olympic Games; recognises that, through his significant successes across two decades, including 46 singles titles, three Grand Slam titles and two men’s singles Olympic Gold medals; believes that Andy has inspired people across Scotland to play tennis; celebrates reports that thousands of Scottish children have the opportunity to take up the sport through the Lawn Tennis Association's (LTA) Youth Schools, which is a programme for tennis in schools inspired by Andy and Great Britain's 2015 Davis Cup victory, with Scottish schools having the highest take-up of the programme in the UK; urges the Scottish Government, the LTA, Tennis Scotland and Sport Scotland to continue working together to ensure a lasting legacy for Scottish tennis, and wishes Andy all the best for the future.
