Port of Aberdeen Shore Power in Operation Project

That the Parliament congratulates Port of Aberdeen on commencing construction of Scotland's largest commercial shore power system on 8 August 2024; notes that the Shore Power in Operation project is designed to supply clean energy to up to seven vessels simultaneously, and is scheduled to deliver its first power in March 2025; understands that the shore power system, which is known as "cold-ironing", is being installed by PowerCon, the market leader in shore power technology, and includes connecting the modular shore power system to the grid, as well as establishing quayside connection points via mobile cable reels; further understands that this project forms part of the £55 million that Port of Aberdeen is investing over 10 years to become the UK's first net zero port by 2040; believes that delivering sustainable green infrastructure such as this at ports is a key component in Scotland's journey to a net zero economy, and wishes CEO, Bob Sanguinetti, and the rest of the team at Port of Aberdeen well in progressing the project.
