Full Fibre Broadband Delivered in Jura
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the delivery of full fibre broadband to Jura, providing local communities with reliable and resilient digital connectivity; commends the work of Openreach engineers in connecting 150 island homes to the full fibre network, which has sufficient capacity to meet increasing data demands; notes what it sees as the significant and positive impact that this work will have on local businesses, including Lussa Gin, which can attract new customers and perform vital day-to-day tasks, such as online meetings and banking; acknowledges what it considers to be the wide-ranging social and economic benefits that better broadband can deliver, by empowering people to access new professional, educational and social opportunities, and notes what it sees as the important role that broadband connectivity has in addressing depopulation, through attracting people to live and work in Scotland’s island communities.
