Jack Calvert Memorial Games

The motion

That the Parliament commends North Police Scotland RFC for holding the Jack Calvert Memorial Games on 10 August 2024, an annual fundraising event in memory of its late friend, teammate and colleague, Jack Calvert; understands that Jack Calvert started his career as a journalist, working for publications, including the Aberdeen Evening Express, before joining Police Scotland, where he played with North Police Scotland RFC and Police Scotland Thistles, prior to his sad passing in 2022 following a diagnosis of bowel cancer; notes that Scottish Police Women XV defeated Garioch Ladies RFC 31-5, and that Scottish Police Men XV secured a narrow 31-29 victory over North Police Scotland RFC during the games, while money was also raised through an auction and raffle; welcomes reports that "plenty" of donations were raised for three selected charities, namely Roxburghe House, Maggie's Aberdeen and The Archie Foundation; commends the fundraising efforts of everyone involved, and thanks everyone who contributed to making the Jack Calvert Memorial Games a success.
