St Roch’s Marching Band Victory at Fleadh Cheoil nah Éireann
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates St Roch’s marching band from Glasgow on its victory at the renowned Fleadh Cheoil nah Éireann in Wexford; understands that the 41-strong ensemble is the first band from outside Ireland to win the Senior Miscellaneous title at the competition; recognises that the band, which is from the Irish Minstrels branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, features individual members who are previous Fleadh competitors and champions, but that this was the first Fleadh that the group had competed in as a band, having only taken up marching five months prior; commends the historic accomplishment of the Glasgow-based band, and wishes it every success with its future performances and competitions.
