Lodged by Christine Grahame Standard Motion 26 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament recognises 20 years of celebrating National Dog Day on 26 August 2024; understands that National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by animal welfare advocate, Colleen Paige, in a bid to help galvanize the public to recognise the number of dogs in need of rescue each year, to celebrate all breeds and to honour all dogs that work selflessly to save lives, and keep people safe and bring them comfort; acknowledges the many dogs that reportedly put their lives on the line every day, protecting people's families and homes, supporting the police, blind and disabled people, assisting with bomb and drug detection, and helping to locate and rescue victims of accidents, and encourages everyone to continue to celebrate National Dog Day annually.
