Freedom of East Lothian for Josh Taylor
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the granting of the Freedom of East Lothian to former undisputed light-welterweight boxing champion, Josh Taylor, who is from Prestonpans originally and now lives in Haddington; understands that the accolade has been given to Mr Taylor in recognition of his numerous successes in the sport, which include winning Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Association (WBA) light-welterweight titles, before beating Jose Ramirez in 2021 to secure the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) titles and become undisputed world champion, the first British boxer to do so in the four-belt era; commends Mr Taylor and his support team for these outstanding achievements in boxing, and congratulates him on being granted the Freedom of East Lothian.
