The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Grampian Society for the Blind on receiving a £150,491 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund; understands that this funding will be used to provide a suite of activities such as lunch clubs, gym-based fitness, yoga, cookery, crafts and lip-reading for adults experiencing significant sight and hearing loss; notes that these activities will be aimed at delivering a number of outcomes, including reducing isolation, increasing confidence, providing friendship and peer support, and improving physical and mental health; further notes that the Grampian Society for the Blind, which operates as North East Sensory Services, seeks to help build a Scotland that is aware of the needs of people with sensory impairment, including them as equal participants in community life and offering them the same opportunities available to everyone else; believes that the organisation’s mission of achieving independence for blind and deaf people is absolutely crucial, and wishes all those involved in the organisation well with their future endeavours.
