Migraine Awareness Week 2024
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that 23 to 29 September 2024 is Migraine Awareness Week; understands that one in seven people in the UK live with migraines, which can have a significant impact on their quality of life and mental health and can affect their relationships, education and work; believes that, all too often, migraines are dismissed as “just a headache” when, in fact, they can be very debilitating; understands that people with migraines can temporarily lose vision, speech and movement, can be or feel sick and can have a sensitivity to light; notes that migraines can occur at any stage in life and that many people have them without proper diagnosis and treatment; urges anyone who experiences migraines more than once a week or who has migraines that are getting worse to see their GP or healthcare professional as, with care and treatment, migraines can become more manageable, and commends the work of the Migraine Trust, which it considers to be the UK’s leading charity in migraine research, for raising awareness of migraines and proving information and support to those living with them.
