Congratulating South Ayrshire’s Youth Councillors

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the 25 new members of the South Ayrshire Youth Council, following their election in June 2024; understands that over 2,500 young people across South Ayrshire voted, with 53 candidates standing, ranging in age from S1 pupils, to school leavers up to 21 years old; notes that young people who live, work or study in South Ayrshire were encouraged to get involved by running their own campaigns through posters, videos and other means; recognises that the elected young people met with South Ayrshire Council councillors and the executive leadership team to take part in a variety of activities during the event launch at Ayr’s County Buildings; understands that the young people reviewed statements from earlier consultations from across South Ayrshire, working together to agree the key priorities to take forward, and suggested solutions to the issues surrounding them; congratulates all the young people from across South Ayrshire who took part in the process, and wishes the youth councillors every success for the future.
