Carnegie Swimming Club in Dunfermline, Fife, Wins the Health and Wellbeing Scottish Children’s Health Award from Children’s Health Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Carnegie Swimming Club in Dunfermline, Fife, as winner of the Health and Wellbeing Scottish Children’s Health Award, bestowed by the charity Children’s Health Scotland; understands that the award has been announced in the same week that Children’s Health Scotland leads Scottish Children’s Health Week 2024 to recognise a person or team that has made a difference to the health and wellbeing of a child or young person; believes that Carnegie Swimming Club is focused on competitive swimming, with over 220 members, ranging from age four to 51, training and competing at all levels across Scotland; considers that Carnegie Swimming Club was nominated by the mum of a young swimmer, in recognition of its efforts to support and embrace the child’s abilities, and its collaborative work to identify how to get the best out of each session; acknowledges that Carnegie Swimming Club is a registered charity and relies on a hard-working committee to provide around 60 hours of training across venues in the West Fife area every week, as well as the contributions of the many parent volunteers who support the swimmers at training sessions and swimming galas; applauds Carnegie Swimming Club’s achievements in the 2023-24 season, and extends its very best wishes to everyone at Carnegie Swimming Club for continued success in the future.
