Eight-year-old Ollie Durand Raises over £5,000 for Charity

The motion

That the Parliament commends eight-year-old Ollie Durand and father Stephen, on raising over £5,000 for different local charities since Ollie was six years old; understands that, at six years old, he completed the West Highland Way, walking over 96 miles to raise funds for Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels; notes that most recently he completed the Hebridean Way to raise funds for local charity, Golden Friendships; understands that the pair, from Dalmuir, walked over 180 miles in nine days, braving heavy rain and winds as they crossed 10 islands, six causeways and took two ferries to the finishing point in Stornoway; welcomes that they raised £2,500 for Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels and more than £2,200 for Golden Friendships, a charity which promotes social inclusion, and which Ollie’s gran attends weekly; notes that the Hebridean Way starts on the island of Vatersay and runs through Barra, Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, Grimsay, North Uist, Bernaray, Harris, and Lewis before coming to an end in Stornoway; thanks Ollie and Stephen for their amazing work raising money for such important local charities, and looks forward to seeing what challenge they take on next.
