Skypoint School Wins Prestigious UNICEF Award

The motion

That the Parliament recognises Skypoint School in Faifley, which has been awarded a Gold Award by the UNICEF UK’s Rights Respecting School programme; understands that the school, which caters for children with additional support needs, has become the first in West Dunbartonshire to achieve this accolade, which is granted to schools that show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school; notes that the award also recognises achievement in putting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s planning, policy and practice; understands that a Rights Respecting School is considered a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practiced, respected, protected and promoted, and congratulates all of the school's staff and its pupils and their families, on their hard work and dedication being rewarded.
