Zetland Park Rain Garden Project Awarded Beautiful Scotland Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Falkirk Council on its recent success at the Beautiful Scotland Awards 2024; understands that Falkirk Council was awarded the Wright Sustainability Award, which is presented to the local authority that demonstrates best practice in sustainability; considers that this award was presented to Falkirk Council for its Zetland Park Rain Garden Project; recognises that this project began due to regular surface water flooding in the park and was instrumental in restoring and redesigning the park to slow down rainwater, managing waterflow and preventing water ponding; celebrates that new planting in the rain garden has attracted more wildlife, helping with pollination and creating a thriving ecosystem for wildlife; notes that the Beautiful Scotland Awards are organised by environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful, to recognise the achievements of groups across Scotland in the work that they do to enhance their local areas; congratulates Falkirk Council on its work in Zetland Park and on its Wright Sustainability Award, and wishes it well in future projects across the Falkirk district.
