150th Anniversary for Kilwinning’s Bridgend Gospel Hall
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that the 150th anniversary of the Bridgend Gospel Hall in Kilwinning will be celebrated in September 2024; understands that the brethren in Kilwinning met in Greenfoot School to break bread for the first time on 13 September 1874 with the names of those present, Thomas Downs, John Fulton, Matthew Richmond, and John Verrier recorded in the official record; further understands that the present Bridgend Hall, built by Mr Burns, a banker, for the Ayrshire Christian Union, eventually came to be used as the gathering place of the assembly and remains the base to this day; congratulates the congregation of the Gospel Hall on its 150th anniversary, and wishes it all the best for the future.
