Congratulations to Beatrix Elsberger
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen Royal Infirmary consultant breast surgeon, Ms Beatrix Elsberger, who is to be the ninth recipient of the Hunter Doig Medal from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh; understands that the medal, which was introduced in 2007, and is named after pioneering female surgeons, Alice Hunter and Caroline Doig, is awarded to a female surgeon who has shown career potential and ambition as well as high standards, and recognises good surgical practice, clinical excellence, ongoing contribution to education and training, and various other important factors; further understands that this award follows the National Institute for Heal Research's CREST Award received by Ms Elsberger's clinical breast cancer research team in 2023; believes that Beatrix is an inspiration to young female surgeons and that this award highlights the huge contribution that she and her team have made towards breast cancer research, and wishes Beatrix all the best when receiving the award at the ceremony in April 2025.
