Orkney and Swannay Breweries Recognised at Scotland Independent Beer Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Orkney Brewery on being named Best of the Best, and Swannay Brewery on taking home the top prize in the Cask Session Pale at the SIBA Scotland Independent Beer Awards, held at Indie Beer Scotland 2024; recognises the achievements of Orkney Brewery in being awarded best Overall Gold for Cask Beer, and Gold in the Cask Speciality Amber to Dark Beer category for its Dark Island Reserve, and two Silvers in the Cask British Dark Beer and Cask Pale Ale categories; applauds Swannay Brewery for its success, with Island Hopping taking Gold and the top prize in the Cask Session Pale Ale category, as well as the Orkney Porter and Ola, which both took home Bronzes in their respective categories; understands that each beer goes through a rigorous blind-tasting and final judging panel by top experts, meaning that both breweries’ wins represent the pinnacle of brewing success; recognises what it sees as the outsized achievement of Orkney’s breweries, and pays tribute to the hard work and creativity of Orkney’s brewers.
