Scottish Football Association Grassroots Award for Best Adult Volunteer in the East Region Goes to Brian Eaton

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Brian Eaton on being awarded the Scottish Football Association (Scottish FA) Grassroots Award for Best Adult Volunteer in the East region; recognises that the Scottish FA Grassroots Awards were established to acknowledge services to club and junior football in the local community; understands that Brian has been part of Brechin Victoria Junior FC for around 40 years, and that throughout this period he has fully committed to the club, both on and off the park; acknowledges that Brian first joined Brechin Victoria Junior FC as a player in the 1980s, when he was a first choice in the midfield, and that, during this time, he never missed a training session or game; notes that, when Brian’s playing career ended, he joined Brechin Victoria Junior FC committee and became a coach with the club, firstly in charge of the under-18s team, then as manager of the first team, making a huge impact on players from the local community; recognises that, over the years, Brian has taken on many committee responsibilities, including the role of secretary, groundsman and also treasurer, with Brian making sure that the club is well-run and ensuring that Victoria Park is one of the best grass playing surfaces in the Tayside area; applauds Brian’s tireless efforts and commitment to Brechin Victoria Junior FC, and wishes Brian every success as he continues to ensure the long-term sustainability of junior football in Brechin.
