Glenbervie Amateur Hortus Club Celebrates a Successful Summer Show

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Glenbervie Amateur Hortus Club on another successful summer show in the grounds of Glenbervie House; recognises that the amateur hortus club has existed since 1887, and that its aims are to promote the cultivation of flowers, fruit and vegetables by encouraging people to exhibit them; understands that the show is only open to amateurs residing within seven miles of Glenbervie; notes that there were 136 categories at the 2024 show, ranging from cut flowers, baking, handicrafts, vegetables, photography and even a pet section, along with 50 primary and secondary pupil sections ranging from flower arrangements, wooden spoon scarecrows, baking and Lego builds; further notes that, as well as the multiple exhibitions on display, fun races for adults and children and a popular tea and cake stall are all organised by the small group of hard-working volunteers, and appreciates all of the committee’s efforts to organise the summer show and various other events throughout the year for the community.
