Pilton Community Health Project (PCHP) Celebrates its 40th Anniversary

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Pilton Community Health Project (PCHP), based in north Edinburgh, on its 40th anniversary; understands that PCHP is Scotland’s oldest community health project, and that Pilton Health Project, as it was originally called, was amongst the first wave of community health initiatives that emerged in the UK as a response to, and as part of, the social and political changes in the 1980s, and that PCHP has grown into what it sees as the well-established and respected organisation that it is today; further understands that, in using a strengths-based and person-centred approach, PCHP is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of local people by fostering community connections and providing holistic health and wellbeing support through accessible grassroots services; understands that, in the last three years, PCHP has supported over 8,000 individuals and 3,500 households through empowering participants to connect with others, build confidence and take meaningful steps towards improved health and resilience; believes that, since 1984, PCHP has provided wide-ranging and positively impactful assistance to local families and individuals who are affected by long-term health inequalities; recognises the staff, board and volunteers at PCHP for their contributions and for reaching this important milestone, and wishes everyone involved with PCHP every success for the future.
