Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2024

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF), which is being held during World Mental Health Awareness Month in October 2024; notes that the festival will take place across Scotland from 10 to 27 October, with the theme "In/Visible"; understands that Discovering Hartwood will be one of the events highlighted during the fortnight, with stories about the history of the former psychiatric hospital, including accounts from staff and patients who lived in Motherwell and Wishaw; notes that SMHAF provides a platform where everyone in Scotland can create and share art about mental health and explore how the arts and creativity can support people to live mentally healthier lives; acknowledges World Mental Health Day on 10 October, as a global observance event dedicated to raising awareness about issues, reducing stigma, and promoting positive mental health, and wishes all those taking part in the 220 events across Scotland all the best.
