£8,000 in Grant Funding Delivered to Glasgow Charities by Buchanan Galleries

That the Parliament congratulates Buchanan Galleries on awarding £8,000 to five charities and organisations in and around Glasgow over the last six months to support their crucial work; notes that this funding was presented to Dates N Mates, which launched in 2008 and provides a wide variety of activities and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, Glasgow Wood, which is a social enterprise that creates valuable opportunities in the community by diverting timber from landfill, the Glasgow Tool Library, which is a community-run library that provides affordable access to tools and equipment for homes and gardens, Friends of Ashton, which is a charity set up to support students at Ashton Secondary School, all of whom have physical, learning and emotional disabilities and SiMY, which is based at Lister Street and is a youth and community development project that works with eight- to 18-year-olds and their families by addressing the negative mental, physical and social health impacts of long-term poverty; understands that SiMY has used its award to launch its Paid Work Placement scheme, which supports young adults and unemployed parents into paid roles within the organisation; believes that these awards, which follow the over £10,000 in funding the Buchanan Galleries has given to charities, community groups and non-profit organisations over the last year, reflect the business’s continuing commitment to supporting communities; notes that they have been presented through the Landsec Futures social impact programme, which is a £20 million scheme that was set up by Buchanan Galleries’ owner, Landsec; understands that this programme aims to empower initiatives that contribute to community wellbeing and create lasting and positive change in their area, and commends what it sees as Buchanan Galleries’ dedication to creating a lasting and positive impact on the community by helping organisations, of all shapes and sizes, to make future-forward decisions.
