Congratulations to Clan Cancer Support
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Clan Cancer Support on winning the Outstanding Cultural Event or Festival award at the 2024 Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Awards; notes that the Big Hop Trail, which raised more than £200,000 to aid Clan's work supporting people with cancer, was a sculpture trail delivered in partnership with Wild in Art during the summer of 2023, and saw more than 240,000 people taking part across the north east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland; understands that Clan will now go forward to the Scottish Thistle Awards National Final in November 2024 at the Hilton, Glasgow, where it will compete against major event organisers from across Scotland; believes that this award is a testament to the hard work of CEO Fiona Fernie and the rest of her team at Clan, and wishes them all the best with their future fundraising endeavours, including the BookBench Trail in summer 2025.
