Glasgow Caledonian Ranked UK’s Top Modern University

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) on being ranked the top modern university in the UK in 2024; notes that GCU gained four places in the university rankings to take it up to 40th overall; welcomes its success in placing graduates in high-skilled jobs, with 81.5% of these gaining such employment within 15 months of graduating, a statistic that sees it ranked joint 15th for this in the UK; recognises that GCU graduates feel their careers are on the right track within this 15-month period and that the rankings place the university ninth overall in this category; commends the faculty in helping GCU to become the leading provider of apprentices in Scotland and one of the largest providers to the NHS, and pays tribute to GCU for, it understands, admitting more students from areas of high deprivation than any other institution in Scotland.
