Poppyscotland Welfare Provisions

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Poppyscotland on its success in delivering what it sees as vital welfare provisions to support the Armed Forces community in Scotland and across the UK; understands that, since merging with the Royal British Legion to form the largest charity group supporting the Armed Forces community in the UK, Poppyscotland has created a range of new frontline welfare services for the Armed Forces community; notes that the services offered include an urgent support team available 12 hours a day, seven days a week, an independent living advice service, an online grant application system, an admiral nurse service, recovery services and a contact centre open seven days a week, 12 hours a day; understands that Poppyscotland has helped 1,049 people in Scotland to successfully access a grant, issued 1,013 Immediate Need grants, awarded more than £729,977 to help fund household items and repairs, arrears and mobility home adaptations, and £464,267 for support with energy bills, household items, debt, housing and more; commends Poppyscotland for providing the most vulnerable members of the Armed Forces community with the most appropriate and tailored support when it is needed the most; praises the staff and volunteers for all their hard work, and wishes them all the best as they continue to help the Armed Forces community and their families now and in the future.
