The motion

That the Parliament commends the Glasgow Times on its End the Homeless Hotel Shame campaign; understands that the number of families in Glasgow living in temporary accommodation, such as hotels and B&Bs, has increased substantially during the course of 2024, rising from 26 on 1 January to 97 as at 1 August; recognises that Glasgow City Council declared a housing emergency on 30 November 2023 and has provided emergency and temporary accommodation to more than 7,000 people during the year; notes the reports of grave concerns regarding the safety of families and lone women housed in the unsuitable living conditions presented by such properties, and calls for stronger safeguards regarding the temporary accommodation used for families with children and lone women, namely that such facilities should be ringfenced for homeless presentations or other such similar circumstances.
