Women and Girls in Sport Week 2024
The motion
That the Parliament recognises Women and Girls in Sport Week 2024, which runs from30 September to 6 October; celebrates the achievements of all women and girlsin sport, from local clubs to elite athletes, in Stirling and across Scotland;notes the positive mental, physical and social benefits that come from physicalactivity; believes that barriers to access persist for women and girls, andthat ongoing work is required to ensure that these barriers are dismantled;understands that intersecting inequalities mean that disabled women, women ofcolour and LGBTQ+ women and girls may face particular difficulties to accesssport; further understands that it is important for organisers to factor ingendered barriers to access; believes that diversity in sport is to be valued,and notes the positive contributions being made to increase access to sportacross Scotland.
