Lodged by Emma Roddick (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 17 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the news that three projects in Shetland have been awarded a £620,000 share of a £3 million Scottish Government funding pot for island communities; notes that funding has been given to the Fair Isle Bird Observatory, the Papa Stour History and Community Group and Bigton’s Hymhus; appreciates that the Fair Isle Bird Observatory will use the funding to complete its long-awaited rebuild, with the new observatory set to open in May 2025 and feature 33 bedrooms, a laboratory and a visitor centre; understands that the Papa Stour History and Community Group’s share will go towards its aim of creating a visitor centre and community hub on the island; recognises that Bigton’s Hymhus will use the funding to improve the sustainability and efficiency of the former St Ninian’s Church, through the installation of an air source heat pump and the replacement of single-glazed windows, and wishes all three projects, including the dedicated teams behind them, all the very best for the future.
