Congratulating Bobby and David Rendall for 80 Years of Combined Service at Papa Westray Airfield
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates brothers Bobby and David Rendall on having reached 80 years of combined service at the Papa Westray airfield in Orkney; understands that the pair first began working at the airfield in October 1984 and so have each completed 40 years' service; notes that Bobby, six years David’s senior, has worked throughout this period as airfield coordinator, and David as airfield attendant; recognises the significance of their work in facilitating vital access to the island community whilst ensuring the safety of passengers; notes that the Papa Westray airfield is home to the world’s shortest commercial flight, operated by Loganair between Westray and Papa Westray, which is scheduled to take one and a half minutes; commends the dedication of the pair in serving their community, which, it understands, involves working long and unpredictable hours in all manner of conditions; pays tribute to their 80 combined years of excellent work in public service, and looks forward to many more.
