60-year-old Glasgow Restaurant Receives Prestigious Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Indian eatery, Shish Mahal, on being awarded two Rosettes by the AA, recognising the establishment as a place of "culinary excellence" and a "stand-out" dining experience; understands that the award means that the chef has shown great technical skill, consistency and judgement in combining and balancing ingredients, and has a clear ambition to achieve high standards; further understands that the restaurant was first opened on Park Road in the West End in 1964, by the late Ali Ahmed Aslam, who was better known to customers and friends as Mr Ali; considers that Shish Mahal has cemented itself as a go-to venue for Indian cuisine in the city; acknowledges that the award also reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire team, and believes that Shish Mahal is renowned around the world for being the birthplace of the chicken tikka masala dish.
