SSEN's Transmission Sustainability Strategy
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the new SSEN Transmission Sustainability Strategy; notes the strategy was developed through an inclusive and evidence-based process involving over 150 stakeholder groups and individuals; further notes the strategy reflects the commitment of SSEN, transmission network operator for the north of Scotland, to support the delivery of a fair and sustainable energy transition; understands the strategy supports the delivery of a range of programmes, including what it considers as the significant Pathway to 2030 project, the delivery of hundreds of new and upgraded homes by 2030 and the launch of a community benefit fund in 2024; recognises the commitment to the supply chains in the north of Scotland; notes the ambition of SSEN Transmission to grow biodiversity net gain (BNG), establishing itself as a pioneer in marine BNG by 2030; recognises SSEN Transmission's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement; commends SSEN Transmission's commitment to implement a Just Transition Workforce Plan by 2026 to grow a skilled workforce in a just and sustainable way, and notes what it sees as its significant positive contribution to meeting net zero targets in Scotland and the UK.
