Scottish Indian Arts Forum Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Dusherra Festival

That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Indian Arts Forum (SIAF) on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, and commends the forum for its tireless dedication to promoting and preserving Indian arts and culture in Scotland; notes that SIAF celebrated this milestone with a highly successful Dusherra festival on 19 October 2024 at Calton Hill, Edinburgh, which brought together diverse communities from across Scotland to partake in the rich traditions of this significant Indian festival; acknowledges the importance of Dusherra, which symbolises the triumph of good over evil and fosters values of unity, resilience, and cultural harmony; commends SIAF for its leadership in using the arts as a vehicle to bridge cultural divides and strengthen social cohesion in Scotland over the last three decades; recognises the important role of volunteers, artists, and supporters in making this and countless other events successful over the years; appreciates their collective efforts to foster a deeper appreciation of India’s artistic heritage within Scotland; recognises what it sees as the long-standing commitment of SIAF to fostering understanding, mutual respect, and collaboration between cultures; looks forward to the continued contributions of the forum to Scotland’s rich cultural tapestry for many years to come, and considers that SIAF has grown from its humble beginnings to become a vibrant cultural institution, offering a platform for Indian art, music, dance, and cultural exchange in Scotland, benefiting both the Scottish-Indian community and the broader public.
