Recognising Held In Our Hearts Baby Loss Counselling
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the important work of Held In Our Hearts, which has provided baby loss counselling and peer support to families for more than 40 years; agrees with its core vision that every family in Scotland should have access to flexible and ongoing community care and support after baby loss; notes that Held In Our Hearts’ recent Hospital to Home pilot, which involves all families being offered compassionate bereavement support without having to personally reach out following baby loss, is currently running in NHS Lothian, Fife, Forth Valley and Highland; acknowledges the mid project results, which show 93 families have been supported so far, including 100% of referrals getting support in July and August 2024; commends Held In Our Hearts for its work in supporting families; understands that they have called the Hospital to Home programme “amazing” and “an incredible amount of comfort and support”, and believes that the Scottish Government should work to create a minimum framework of bereavement care.
