Successful East Indian Festival Durgotsav Celebration in Edinburgh

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Association of Bengali Arts and Sanskrit Heritage (SABASH) on a successful celebration of Durgotsav in Edinburgh between 8 and 12 October 2024; understands that Durgotsav is an East Indian and Bengali Festival that reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess, Durga, and celebrates Durga’s victory over Mahishasura; notes that the festival was a celebration of the culture of India, including vibrant colours, dances and performances, with the message of the "Triumph of Good Over Evil and Woman Power"; welcomes the participation of the community in the festival, and considers Durgotsav to be a positive demonstration of Scotland’s diversity.
