The motion

That the Parliament recognises the passing of the 35-year-old breast cancer awareness campaigner, Mandie Malcolm; understands that Mandie bravely lived with the disease for 10 years; further understands that Mandie was an avid campaigner and dedicated her time and energy to fighting for those who were not as fortunate as herself in their access to life-extending medication; understands that, while Mandie and her family spoke highly of the NHS and staff that treated her, she was also a strong advocate for improved treatment for breast cancer patients; notes that Mandie detailed the challenges that she faced, and the important people and adventures occurring in her life, within her monthly Falkirk Herald column, Perfectly Frank, which allowed readers into the world of a young local woman living with a terminal condition; understands that, further to this, Mandie has also raised funds for Strathcarron Hospice, completing a half and full marathon following a visit to the organisation, which left Mandie inspired by its work; commends Mandie for her work raising awareness of the need for improved treatment for breast cancer patients, and extends its sympathies to her husband, parents, siblings and all those within the wider community who mourn her loss.
