30 Years of the Keith Kilt School

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Keith Kilt and Textile Centre on celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Keith Kilt School; understands that the kilt school was originally launched to train former woollen mill workers the traditional skill of hand-made kilt making; welcomes the competition launched for school children to design two new tartans to mark 30 years since the kilt school was founded, with Shades of Keith tartan open to primary school children, and the design of Keith District Tartan for youngsters aged between 12 and 18; notes that the entries will be judged by St Andrew’s Day; recognises the work done by the voluntary directors, headed by Linda Gorn MBE, over many years to develop the charity, with the kilt school achieving SQA approved centre status, delivering both traditional kilt making and textile design, and wishes everyone involved continued success for the future.
