Cancer Charities' Fundraising Milestone
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Brain Tumour Research and the Beatson Cancer Charity on reaching a fundraising milestone of £1 million, raised in aid of their proposed new Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence; notes that said research centre will be based in both the University of Glasgow and University of Edinburgh, and will house teams of brain cancer experts working to find a cure for glioblastoma, the most aggressive type of brain cancer; further notes that glioblastoma patients have a typical survival time of only 12 to 18 months; understands that the charities need to raise a total of £2.3 million to proceed with establishing the centre, and expresses its support for that endeavour.
