The motion

That the Parliament recognises the passing of Grangemouth’s Edward (Eddie) Kilpatrick; understands that Eddie was a stalwart of the Grangemouth Boys Club (BC), helping to run the organisation in the 1970s, before then working alongside John Dick when the organisation evolved into Grangemouth International, from 1975 to 1980; notes that there was a split to form Grahamston BC in 1978 before Eddie then restarted Grangemouth BC; recognises that Eddie contributed in a variety of ways to the running of BC groups in the local area for well over 40 years, from coaching and assisting at training sessions, and attending games to support the players, to taking on the roles of treasurer and chairman, and organising trips abroad for BC members; understands that Eddie ran multiple age groups within the BCs, with cohorts achieving both local and national success in progressing into senior football, such as Gary Gillespie, who played for Falkirk FC and Liverpool FC; notes that Eddie’s support assisted many young players to sign for a variety of clubs, including Celtic FC and Rangers FC, among others; commends Eddie for the decades of work and support that he gave to Grangemouth BC, alongside other BCs in the local area, and extends its sympathies to his family, friends and all those within the wider community who mourn his loss.
